Hi Xander,
I got the Momitsu player and have a few questions that I'm hoping you can help me with:
1) I can't get any signal out of the DVI when running at any resolution besides 480P (everything else gives me a black screen).
2) Do you have recommendations for the settings on the fine tuning page to get the best picture. Using the defaults @ 480P, it's defintely a lot better than composite, but it still seems like it is a bit softer image than the computer.
Thanks in advance for any help (and thanks for the posting I found that you made on another site which gives the magic menu keys)...

Sorry about not seeing this thread and replying sooner...
Some things:
1. You must use the DVI output on the V880 -- the component is too soft for some reason. You can get a DVI->VGA adapter plug if you only have VGA on your projector. The Radeon 9000 which has DVI output comes standard with such a plug for example.
2. You should download and install the latest V880 firmware - I've installed the Decmber Beta version and it appears to work much better than any previous version. You need this in order to set up custom resolutions. Download from here (please note the instructions on how to update once the CD is burnt -- the firmware comes as a zipped ISO file that you can burn using Nero or similar CD burning software): http://www.manowa.com.tw/dvdplayer880FWDL.html
3. Determine what custom settings you should use. Robert (aka EmuMannen) has written a very cool litle utility program that helps you to determine the custom settings. You can read about it and download it from here (llok for the download link in this thread): http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?postid=2978199#post2978199
Using this utility you can select your projector from the [Quick List] button, select the Frequency (probably 50 or 60Hz) and press OK to get a screen showing all the default parameters to be entered on the custom setting page (see next point) of the V880. If you don't see your projector listed, choose any of the other projectors with a similar resolution.
4. To enter custom settings on the V880, go to the Setup->Video menu and press 9-7-1-3 (in sequence) and you'll see the custom DVI setup screen pop up. You can use the remote to enter/change the values as presented in the utility in 3 above. Once done, press Enter to save and set the values and then press Setup again to exit the setup menu.
You might want to keep both the component cables as well as the DVI/VGA cable connected at the same time just incase you enter values that causes the projector to loose sync. Remember that you can always cycle through the various video modes by pressing the little triangular shaped video mode button on the remote multiple times until you can see a picture again.
It takes a bit to get used to but once mastered you'll be able to go through this process quickly. I had the same problem on my Sony HS10 recently since I wanted to drive it from the V880 via VGA (since the DVI port is occupied by the PC) and the only signal that would work in that configuration for me was also the 480p (the HS10 is a 16x9 widescreen projector). In the end I got it to work by choosing the Panasonic AE500/L500U projector in the utility from the Quick List and selecting the 60Hz option - that gives me 720p that the HS10 is happy to scale up to the HS10 native resolution in GBR mode (as opposed to Computer mode).b You might therefore have to try a few different projectors from the Quick List if it is not working at first.

Hope this helps

Some Momitsu V880 owners have started to do mods on the V800 to make it less fickle. You can read all about it here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?threadid=336698.
