Hi I`m after a few optical sound prints on super 8 for a bit of fun, that still have good colour and condition, anything thats interesting and reasonably priced.
Also after a projector with better than 100 watt lampand optical sound though I am in the UK/europe for that.
Not quite as easy to send as a feature.
Thanks, Best Mark.

Hi Barry, thanks, I have been in touch with Paul today.
I was hoping for a few interesting bits from stateside.
You seem to have quite a few over there. Just a shame they are all on SP stock and a bit on the slide often, oh well you can`t have everything.
Best Mark.

Your right Barry, a top chap and I`ve had some great stuff off paul as well.
Handy that you are so close.
I think Pauls grading is also very good and hes helpful as well.
Looking forward to the bits I have coming soon.
Best Mark.
PS know anyone selling an optical S8 machine our way.

Hi Mark,
I think you might have a difficult time finding many optical prints that are not faded -- low-fade stock didn't become widely used until late 1982, and apparently a lot of the optical printings were done with older fading stock even after that time -- I had a print of 'Lethal Weapon' (from '85 or '86 I think) that was on some no-name stock and was fading. So unless you get lucky and find a print that was made on AGFA stock, or printed on low-fade stock after 1982, there isn't going to be much out there....

Hi Steven thanks for the good advice
I think you are right and its a shame about the stock, I suppose the thing is to get them at the right price and then its not to much of a dissater.
I have a print of greyeagle from 78 that although faded a little is still watcheable.
I wonder if they are still watcheable even when fully faded so to speak.
Best Mark.

Hi Mark,
I think the jury is still out on whether stock ever stabilizes or if it will fade away to nothing. It's pretty rare to find any color prints from the '50s or early '60s, so it's quite possibile that most of these have faded away to nothing.... On the other hand, I've seen some early '70s prints that still have a lot of color, and don't look any worse than they did 10 years ago.... I guess only time will tell...

Yes the old colour fade is a swine and have to say thats why I`m generally a video projector and DVd man these days for serious film watching.
I`m afraid our miniture houses by US standards don`t make it easy to collect 16mm features really, we`re pushed for space land and home wise over here.
I do like the fiddly faddy of optical prints but as any I buy I think I have to say will you just right that money off really if you keep them. Realistically any optical feature you buy from a dealer for say £60 you will find a second hand figure of £30 or so to sell it on and thats while the colour is still there.
Anyway so thats why I fancy a few odd ones, cheap in cheap out and a quick mess about while they are here.
I imagine the ones in the states are probably a little further down the road than the ones here mind as its not exactly hot here.!!!
Best Mark.
