View Full Version : PURCHASING -- 16mm FIGHT FILMS

I am buying fight films on 16mm. I prefer fights from 1880s to 1960s. I am not so interested in Castle Film products because in most cases they sold only highlights of the fight rather than complete or close to complete matches. BlackHawk Films, on the other hand had several films which were 85% to 100% complete.
It would be ideal if there was an existing collection of these older fight films to purchase at one time.
Another point I want to make, my interest in these films is not so much the classic value of the physical film but the clarity of the image. Meaning that I would be happy to pay for a "16mm to 16mm copy reel" and in that way the present owner could hold onto his inventory and still benefit from my purchase.

Hi Ron,
FYI.... a "16mm to 16mm copy reel" is generally referred to as a "dupe", and clarity of picture and sound normally suffer. Finding someone to make a "dupe" isn't that easy these days either (and it's incredibly expensive).

Although you specified no interest in Castle, if you get stuck & need some highlite footage I have an 1100' Kodak original silent Castle:
containing scenes of : The Battle for Okinawa. The Battle for Tunisia, The Bombing of the U.S. Franklin Aircraft Carrier, The air Bombing of Nazi Battle Wagons.
If you have an odd reel or a toon or something to trade -
or
$15/shipping

Hey Bill:
This is interesting. It is the only 16MM film I have ever seen with four perfs per frame.
It can be threaded up two ways. If you thread it "the other way" the picture frame will be in the middle of the screen.
Interesting - huh!
