What's your favorite poisson?

I love to drink champagne, wine and beer.

On top...legs up and over my shoulders!

Damn! I mis-read that title! I thought it said favorite "position"! ;)

(Sorry Linda, couldn't resist!) :)

Either you are ALL horny or you are making fun of my threads, which are ALL extremely popular in MANY forums in the off topic section, such as this!
I was trying to make this forum a bit more popular in the off topic section but, it seems, I am the laughing stock or should I write "sock" (see Michael's thread) on here.
So, since you all think I am some stupid blonde babe that you can all snicker at, I will stop posting on here.

I never thought that! Did anyone say that?
Don't stop posting. Some of the replies are rather humerous, even if they are not what you want.

Gosh Linda... while I'm not a "babe", I'm a blonde too... :)

Yes, I agree the posts are humorous but somehow ( ) I got on Michael's bad side and he is making fun of my thread ideas.
Here I am, posting away to bring on forum fun and I am being made fun of - go figure I don't want Dave Harris to kick me off:eek: !!

There was no personal attack in the response to your message that I can see, Linda. However, that can't be said for your reply. Try not to take things so seriously.

Re-read the sock thread with the backwards message and maybe you will understand my view point.

If my recent posts seem completely off-topic, useless, inane, and a waste of time and bandwidth - take solace in knowing there are but two of them. I don't post literally HUNDREDS of such insipid posts.

My posts were never directed at any individual, they were simply a stupid waste of time. Nobody could possibly take offense, other than at having their time wasted.

As you may recall, we started this Forum to try and keep off-topic material OUT of the Film Collectors' Forum. It had become necessary because there were simply TOO MANY Off-Topic posts. Not only were we receiving complaints from members, but these NUMEROUS Off-Topic posts were making the Film Collectors' Forum less valuable as a useful tool to collectors. In fact, when this forum was started I stated:

While nobody wants to be "heavy-handed", there needs to be a REASONABLE "signal to noise" ratio in terms of posted matter content - and lately it's been "all noise".

In the future we will probably be more diligent in pointing out when a thread is going TOO far off topic (or being "hijacked") and direct the poster to start a new thread or post their off-topic content here, on the Cutting Room Floor.

( See http://www.efilmforum.com/showpost.php?p=20670&postcount=5 )

Somehow, that seems to have translated into "Post EVERYTHING you can about ANYTHING you can think of!" - which was never the intent of setting up The Cutting Room Floor. That type of posting is no different than SPAM, IM(H)O.

We all tend to post something which is Off-Topic from time to time, there's certainly nothing wrong with that - and that's why we have a place to make such posts. And then there are some people who CONSTANTLY post Off-Topic posts AD NAUSEUM ! Of course, I would never single any such individual out - BUT if you feel my remarks may apply to you, there's a simple way to evaluate the frequency and content quality of your posts - simply click on your name at the top of any post, and select "Show All Posts By...." - if you find your "signal to noise" ratio is pretty high, maybe it would be a good idea to exercise a little discretion in WHAT you post, and maybe try to stay "On Topic".

No, this is the Off-Topic Forum - and I do want to read the Off-Topic posts.

What you are proposing is a "Nothing But SPAM" Forum, and I just don't think we need that here. Of course, that's only my opinion.

I don't think any of the posts yesterday were "too far" from central theme of the 'cutting room' forum, and while Linda did not get the expected responses from her posts, I got a laugh from the replies that came in. To me, that's what counts. Even your attempt at humor got some replies. I don't consider anything left yesterday as spam, nor do I think it even came close. Of course, that's my opinion.

A spot was created to "get loose", so be loose. If you don't want to read it, don't. If you do want to read it, assume there will be stuff that still won't interest you, will waste your time, and be just plain dumb. I didn't see anyone post things in regards to commercial sites (totally unrelated to film) or sex sites, mortage sites, et al. I serious doubt anyone would. I think we all know those limits.

Again, it's only my opinion. I don't run the forum, or set the rules. I have lots to offer in the topic areas when a question that falls in my area of interest or expertise comes up. In here I thought we were able to just hang loose, and ask "what color are my socks?" Maybe not.

My current favorite poisson is red snapper.

My favorite poison is tetrodotoxin which is obtained from the pufferfish, which, in essence, makes it le poison de poisson which sounds funny because it's French.

Pufferfish is actually a delicacy in Japan (called 'Fugu') and the chefs who make it have to be certified to prepare it - else they kill all their customers, something that is generally considered to be a poor business practice.

I have a feeling, though, that the restaurants that serve fugu use farm-raised pufferfish which are non-toxic (the toxin develops due to a bacteria that the fish ingest in the wild) and then pawn it off for top dollar as 'the danger fish'.

It probably doesn't taste very good anyway because it's a silly-looking animal.

I'm surprised at you, Mike...

This would be the perfect thread to plug your new store!

Linda, I stand by my comment. Read forwards or backwards, your reaction to Phil's reply seems a mite exaggerated to me. You took the reply personally, which I think was unjustified, and then went on to personally denigrate certain forum members. To my mind, even though this is the "off-topic" section of the forum, one still needs to stay focused on what's being said and the spirit (however frivolous) in which it's offered.

There is no need to aggrivate me.

This was all wrapped up yesterday and notice I NEVER specifically mentioned anyone's name, did I. I wrote "THREADS" as in this thread and the thread titled "What book are you reading" were answered sexually.

I can have my own opinion and viewpoints so please, stay on topic.

Linda, I'll make one last attempt at being reasonable. Granted, you didn't name any names in your reply to Phil. However, you did say, "Either you are ALL horny or you are making fun of my threads. . ." You then went on to say, "So, since you all think I am some stupid blonde babe that you can all snicker at, I will stop posting on here." I consider the use of the word "you" in the quotes to be fairly personal, don't you? Nobody was addressing you personally, nobody referred to you as "some stupid blonde bade," but you reacted as though they did. These comments are "on topic" with regard to your response to Phil's message, which is what I wrote about in the first place.

I KNOW for a FACT that this is what a FEW members THINK of me as so, I went ahead and posted this, okie dokie?
Does this answer make you happy, now?

I wish it was 5:30 PM as I need a few glasses of wine to unwind after answering to you.

Children, children, children. Ya gotta stop this bickering.

I certainly was not offended by Linda's response as I thought it was a general statement for all of our smart-alecky responses in several of her threads. There certainly was nothing demeaning or personal in the responses or her responses. If she feels she's being "picked on", she needs to "lighten up" and get over it.

It just seems to me life's too short not to have a little fun along the way.

Besides, even *IF* I were to think her post was aimed at me, I'm a big boy... I can take it. I wont threaten to "take-my-ball-and-go-home".

OBTW: Rum & Coke. ;)
