I thought that I had learned to recognize most of the 16mm magnetic projectors from their pictures, but Tickle-Me-Elmo if this one doesn't at least resemble an optical only unit:

I suppose I should just ask the seller -or perhaps I'm just a "Total Dope."
There's also an interesting looking B&H double-band sort of conversion up this week. -maybe just the thing for folks who have magnetic cores or whathaveyou separate from the visual film. It may go for less than the Siemens machines that crop up from time to time. For what it's worth, Lenny Lipton wrote("Independent Film Making") of the S 2000 model, "Only those who have invested the lifetime of study needed for its mastery will mourn its passing."

Hello, er, Jim,
That Eiki seems to have been withdrawn for some reason.
And it's a bit too late to ask for a refund for the magnetic/optical tracked print of the Agatha Christie movie, given that over a month has passed. I probably wasn't wearing glasses when I ran a bit of the film to check the sound tracks and was also probablymore concerned about learning to operate the projector than to notice anything about the print other than it had faded as per the seller's description. At any rate, I now see that there is a veritable black "snow" of tiny black thingies in the projected image and I think I can also see them with a loupe. They didn't go away after using some Kodak flim cleaner. I don't smell anything resembling vinegar. The storage condtions in my basement over the past month or so can't be *that* bad. Not that it really matters now, but I wonder if anyone could shed some light on the nature of what is maring the film or suggest some key words for an eFilmForum search.
Jim

The coolest projector I ever saw on ebay: a Japanese portable 35 mm projector from the eighties, stereo sound and with a normal audio cassette recorder incorporated.

I never got the idea behind incorporating the cassette recorder. The projector itself could probably play only 20-30 minutes (I'd guess). The seller insisted that it really was a 35mm sound projector.

It was sold on ebay Germany for about $ 30 to some lucky bastard. I don't know what I was thinking that I did not bid more.
