Hi,
I am new to efilmforum and I am looking to purchase an early silent 35mm feature film or reprint. I recently purchased a complete 1908 Powers Cameragraph #5 hand cranking projector and am in the process of restoring it. I was told that the Library of Congress had a list of films that had been reprinted but have not had any luck locating it on their website. I would appreciate any help anyone could provide.

Non-acetate? You're looking for Nitrate?

Be sure you know what you're looking for. Unless you're familiar with the handling of nitrate film, I'd stay away from it.

Silent nitrate films occasionally show up on eBay. You should keep your eyes open there.

If you're going to run nitrate film, be sure your projector's fire shutter, magazines, and fire rollers are all in proper operating condition.

Sorry, I mislabeled this thread. I am looking for a non-nitrate film to use with my 1908 Powers Cameragraph. I will be using the carbon arc light source and I do not what to take a chance with nitrate film. I know there are copies of these early 35mm silent films out there but don't know where to find them.

There are safety prints but they are hard to find--and are not sold to private individuals from any of the archives. Keep an eye on The Big Reel magazine as well as eBay.
