Hi, I'm Alessandro (Quite "Anonymous Film Lovers"-like... now you reply: "Hi, Alessandro.":D ).
I just found to your forum via the internet (and some boredom) and must say, I quite liked what I saw, so I registered to have a place for my daily dose of film stuff^^
Just so you guys know me a bit... I'm now almost (!) seventeen years old, swiss, live in Mexico... yeah... I'm a big fan of 16mm film, own quite a few old reels of school movies from Nazi Germany, which were presented to me once... and what else... I like to film on 16mm too, probably the first person to do 16mm home movies in fitty years or so... and that's about it^^
(Don't hit me!:D )
Seeing forward to a great time :)

Hello Alessandro - I got started when I was about 14 years old into 16mm film. My mother bought me a "toy" 16mm projector and I started to collect Castle and Blackhawk films. Went on to be a projectionist (all 16mm) at school. That was back in the 1950s! Went on to be an assistant projectionist at the local theater that got me into 35mm.
16mm film can be a lot of fun, and as collector and lover of 16mm, it does have the potentional for ups and downs. Especially in getting a print you really want.
I would suggest you read through a number of the threads on the forum about all of buyers on Ebay you might want to avoid.
Glad to have young people getting into the hobby.

Welcome Alessandro!
Glad to have you with us. Just curious...what titles do you have of these "school movies from Nazi Germany"? They sound interesting...and potentially one-of-a-kind. If you cannot translate the titles, just post them in German and I can have them translated. Again, welcome aboard and enjoy yourself!

It's not that interesting because of the contents, it's mainly films about animals, since the school kept them until after the war, they probably threw away those, if there were, which contained anything which was not acceptable... My teacher didn't know, she only knew about those which were left. The only ones with maybe "interesting" contents are two (of which one ist the short version of the other) in which animals have the 'ear labyrinth' (Ohrlabyrinth... dunno if it's called like that in english, its the part of the ear responsible for balance) taken out.
But I'm proud anyway of having original copies from that time, heres a list with the titles I own:
Afrikanische Affen
Afrikanische Steppentiere
Auf dem Hühnerhof
Befruchtung und Furchung des Kanincheneies [A Film showing how the Rabbit embryo evolves]
Beiträge zur Mechanik des Vogelfluges / Schwirrflug des Kolibris [This is also an interesting film, at one time showing images of the flight of the colibri recorded at about 10.000fps]
Bilder aus der Vogelwelt I – Adler und Krähen im Winter [Bird Movies]
Bilder aus der Vogelwelt II – Auf Islands Vogelbergen
Bilder aus der Vogelwelt III – Vogelleben am Ostseestrand
Das Blässhuhn
Das Blässhuhn
Der Maikäfer
Der Schwirrflug des Kolibris [Kurzfassung]
Die Lachmöve
Die Rauchschwalbe I
Die Rauchschwalbe I
Die Rauchschwalbe II
Die Ringelnatter
Die Wasserspinne
Ein Pferd wird beschlagen [Interesting one, more historical than educational value, showing how a horse has its horseshoes put on. 1936]
Entstehung des Kohlweisslings
Erbse
Fischadler
Forellenzucht
Forellenzucht
Geruchssinn der Biene
Geschmackssinn der Biene
Gleichgewichtsstörungen bei der Taube [This is the short one, in which a pigeon has that part of the ear removed]
Halsbandregenpfeifer
Hirschkäfer
Hochseefischerei [Showing fishing in the north sea, 1936]
Hörvermögen von Elritzen
Intelligenzprüfungen am Affen [Interesting film, showing tests of intelligence on a chimpanse.]
Intelligenzprüfungen am Affen
Junge Löwen im Zoo / Junge Bären im Zoo
Junge Paviane im Zoo
Kämpfende Damhirsche
Kiefernspinner
Kohlweissling
Mausender Fuchs
Reizbarkeit und Leistung des Tierfangapparates der Venusfliegenfalle
Röntgenfilm I – Das Verdauungssystem [These are quite interesting, they're X-Ray movies, showing movement of body parts in X-Ray... probably they didn't know too much about radiation back then. This one shows the digestory system]
Röntgenfilm III – Schultergürtel [This one shows the shoulder]
Röntgenfilm V – Knie- und Fussgelenke [and this one legs and feet]
Schutzfarbe und Schutzform im Tierreich
Statische Funktion des Ohrlabyrinths [And this is the long version, with a frog, a pigeon and a cat having that part of the ear removed]
Tierpflege im Zoo
Verwandlung der Libelle
Von Wildschweinen und Elchen
Zauneidechse
I've written a bit about the interesting ones... the others are just animal images... rather dull, but considering their age also interesting in some way. You can translate the names of those I didn't comment if you want, although theres nothing really worth it.
Greez^^
