Sorry to all those who came to this post expecting something about 9mm. The heading should have read "8mm Newbie" don't know how it got changed and don't know how to edit the title of the post. Hi to all 8mm fans. My name is Dave Carpenter and I have been collecting 8mm standard and super 8 films for a while. I recently bought a Duo 300 projector on eBay so that I could run standard and super 8 with sound. However I have been unable to get the auto thread to work. It wraps the film around the first spool untill it gets too tight, at which time I have usually stopped it. Fortunately I have a large uninteresting film which I use to try out on my projector. I will try again when I get the time and will post the details on the maintenance forum. By the way my favourite films are old home made ones.
Cheers,
Dave

Hello David,
Welcome to the forum ... You only missed by ".5mm"! As you may or may not be aware, there is a 9.5mm film gauge. This particular film gauge has the perforations down the center of the film in between the frames. We've got a lot of people here on the forum who collect both Super 8mm and Regular 8mm, so I'm sure that someone will be able to help you out with your projection issue. Incidentally, have you tried MANUALLY threading the film past the first roller and through the film gate? I know that on some Super 8mm machines this is possible. Just a thought. Keep us posted on your progress!
